"A round shield of azure with in the center an orange disk, in base
charged with 4 wavy bars argent; the shield surrounded by a border of "Nassaus
blauw" (dark blue), charged with in top "MARINE" and in bottom "LUCHTVAARTDIENST"
in Latin letters argent; shield and border separated by a ring argent and
all charged with a flying eagle or; shield and border wreathed by an orange
branch vert, placed on two anchors in saltire or and surmounted by the
Royal Crown; below the wreath of rays a wavy ribbon azure charged with
"AERA POSSIDEO AC MARE" (in the air as well as at sea I am master) in Latin
letters argent (Beschikking 645391/131192 of 26 Apr 1963).
The emblem is derived from the flag of the MLD, granted by Royal Resolution
2 of 2 Dec 1943. The flag was replaced 18 Aug 1962 by Royal Resolution
131 by a standard, by which the flag was cancelled. The MLD thereupon placed
the emblem in a service emblem. It refers to the activities of this service
over land and seas."
